[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top] Twenty-Seven Male Jonin Konoha Wind | BLOODY WHIRLWIND GENERAL INFORMATION NAME TASUMAKI SETSUNA || the bloody whirlwind AGE 27 BIRTHDATE March 27th GENDER & SEXUALITY Male ~ Heterosexual VILLAGE Konoha RANK & POSITION Jonin BLOODTYPE B+ CHAKRA AFFINITY Wind CHAKRA MANIPULATION Wind HEIGHT & BUILD 5'11 ~ Lean APPEARANCE Setsuna is practically defined by his unnaturally messy chocolate brown hair. It sticks up in every direction and refuses to cooperate with brushes or gels, essentially giving him perpetual bedhead. Though his boyish face, small nose, and lips are always set firm and unmoving, are often seen as defining and unique characteristics, it's Setsuna's eyes that truly make him stand out, for Setsuna's eyes are blue. Not a dark grey masquerading as blue, nor a watery, sky-blue, but a true, dark cerulean that can only be seen by staring into the shallow part of an ocean on a perfectly clear day. They blaze brightly, full of the life he lives to the fullest, reflecting his unshakable confidence and unstoppable force of will. His honey-brown skin speaks of long days spent basking beneath the scorching rays of the sun. Setsuna stands slightly above the average height for his gender and is only a few hairs short of 6’ without his shoes on (something that infuriates him to no end, rest assured). His intensive workouts tend to keep him from gaining weight, while at the same time maintaining around the same amount of muscle. The other fact contributing to this lack of growth is his metabolism – it’s obscenely fast, to the point where it's almost a struggle for him to eat enough to keep from losing weight. His taste in clothes reflects his lax nature. He prefers comfort over anything else, although he takes practicality into account as well (can't go swinging a sword in pants hanging around your knees, now can you?). A pair of dark blue jeans usually sit atop his hips, held in place by a heavy black belt. This belt also serves as the holster for his blade, angled horizontal to his waist along his lower back. Upon his feet he sports black converses, assuming he decides to wear shoes at all. Setsuna despises having his feet confined; there's nothing comfortable about having then sit into some sort of prison all day, all the while building up sweat and a funk he wouldn't wish on his worst enemies. He adorns his upper body with tee shirts of varying shades of color. Whilst his attire is for the most part unusual for a shinobi, he does sport a vest as is custom for higher ranking shinobi. He usually hands his forehead protector around his neck, like a glorified necklace of sorts. PERSONALITY PERSONALITY In his heart, Setsuna will always be a person who'd rather be on his back in the green or in a tree, watching the clouds. When not confronted with the few things that trigger his temper, such as ignorance and overconfidence, Setsuna is just your average relaxed guy. He loves to joke around, to run and jump just to feel adrenaline pound through his veins, to feel the fresh air lazily drift past his bare skin. One might assume that his dreaming nature would make him a peaceful person, but such is not the case. To the contrary, his like of relaxation drives him to complete his goals as expediently as possible, and he has no compunctions about anything – stealing, fighting, deceit - so long as it leads back to his relaxed state of mind. The only thing that might make him think twice before making a cold-blooded decision would be the wisdom of the action from a greater perspective. That isn't to say Setsuna is ruthless. Oh sure, from an outsiders perspective some of his actions can seem a little overkill at times, but that by no means he enjoys it. Whilst he undoubtedly has the potential to be ruthless, he rarely finds himself in situations where it is called for. No, Setsuna simply attempts to approach his life in the most direct and efficient way possible. However, in order to do so, he must take into account every possible consequence of his actions. Say there's a wall that stands in the way between him and his... I dunno, favorite donut shop. If for some reason the world he was on lacked any sort of law enforcement and there were no pedestrians around for miles, he'd bash that motherfucker down and chow down on deep friend goodness until his arteries clogged up with fat and pure, unadulterated bliss. However, if there were police or pedestrians going about their business around, he would have to make a decision. Would the donuts be worth a night spent in a holding cell, or scaring the living crap out of some nearby toddler and potentially scarring him/her/it for life? The answer to that riddle is a resounding no. He would instead have to opt for climbing over said wall, or if he was feeling too lazy, just walk around it. But where's the fun in that? Setsuna is set in the belief mankind will never look at situations rationally and will - always and inevitably - resort to violence to resolve conflicts. Most of the time he manages to keep this cynical part of his persona under wraps, but occasionally something so spectacularly idiotic happens that reveals his hatred of all things ignorant. He can burst into a fit of curses faster than the blink of an eye, and wields his sarcasm like a second language. Such outbursts are rare and seen by few, however, so most are unaware of Setsuna's more temperamental side. It takes a lot to get a rise out of the brunette; anything short of incredible disrespect for his friends and family will rarely earn such a rise out of him. Deep down, behind his sometimes questionable morals and "excessive" actions, Setsuna is a good guy. He is completely honest about everything he says and does, no matter what the consequences might be. His methods are questionable, but everything he does is done with a good intention in mind. When he steals, when he lies or fights, he only does so out of his overpowering desire to establish peace for his chaotic life - even if it's only for a few minutes. Setsuna's only real goal is to enjoy life as much as possible. He loves to laugh and make other laugh alongside him, to poke fun at friends and strangers alike. As such, his more serious demeanor is often overshadowed by a playful persona that pokes fun at everything and everyone he comes across. If he finds a situation amusing himself, he might take his antics so far that other parties involved might actually question his sanity. He'll taunt his foes with ridiculous insults and threats so horrendously violent one might mistake the brunette for a psychopath. Setsuna will ignore all manner of social tact should he find it appropriate for the situation, making the most bizarre inquiries and contextually-inappropriate jokes in order to amuse himself. He uses his unbelievable speeds to traverse the battlefield in mere seconds, and his ability to reach such incredible speeds has resulted in him developed largely above-average strength as well. GENERAL SKILLS Body Flicker Jutsu Transformation Jutsu Clone Jutsu Escape Jutsu Substitution Jutsu Disguise Jutsu HISTORY Tasumaki Setsuna was born into the Tasumaki; a family whose members tended to lean towards the aspects of a martial artist rather than a shinobi. Knowing how to defend oneself was a key aspect of life within this tight-knit family, and there had yet to be a child who didn't learn how to throw a solid punch. Ever since the moment he could walk Setsuna found himself undergoing rigorous training exercises and forms so long they would boggle the minds of most any ninja. He learned how to move both on and offbeat during a fight before he could even speak full sentences, much less actually hold a conversation with someone his age. Learning how to perfect his footwork and increasing his flexibility were both daily routines for the boy. Every day the boy was dragged out of bed before the sun even rose, followed by hours of the same exercises; stretching, sitting in stances, perfecting the slightest of mistakes in his combat form. He spent plenty of time watching his family's sparring matches, picking up on the subtle movements they made and what techniques they had labeled as 'effective' and not just 'flashy.' After finally coming of age, Setsuna was thrust into the ninja academy at the wishes of his father. He personally didn't mind all too much, and really didn't have much trouble with the lessons he was taught. And from that stemmed the problem that most of what he was being taught he had already learned years ago. As such he became the class clown; always making jokes and overall becoming the center of attention. He was relatively well liked by both his fellow academy students and his instructors, who grudging admitted that he showed promise as a shinobi. His taijutsu skills were naturally far above average, and while his ninjutsu were unpolished they showed signs of promise. His genjutsu weren't bad - he just didn't really care about them. Setsuna preferred to be in the middle of the fight, not sitting on the sideline serving as a distraction. Graduation felt relatively insignificant to Setsuna, who considered it a relatively simple task. He graduated near the top of his class, and probably would have been at the top if he had honestly cared about his written exams. Merely a week later the boy found himself thrust onto a team with two of his fellow genin and his jonin-sensei. Teamwork was something came naturally to Setsuna; his already outgoing and open personality, combined with his considerable skill, made him an excellent companion during missions. Yet, he always remained detached from his team in the sense that he rarely honed his skills while he was with them. Instead he found himself under the tutoring of his family, who were more than eager to jam his head full of a multitude of wind-element jutsu as was custom. His skills with a blade continued to grow under the tutoring of his father, yet for all the work Setsuna put into his ninja career he never received the 'respect' his father claimed he had not yet earned it. After two or so years of playing genin Setsuna rose to the rank of chuunin, breezing (literally) through the exams. He had grown close to his teammates - so close that he actually considered them like an extension of his family. He had long since abandonned his family's training methods for those of his own, which involved plenty of two-on-one action. They did everything together - eating meals, training, relaxing, there was hardly a minute in the day where they weren't together. Then a simple mission - delivering some supplies to trading company - went horribly wrong. A group of missing-nin attacked his squad, seriously wounding Setsuna and fatally wounding his teammates. Needless to say, after being released from the hospital Setsuna was undergoing a slew of emotions he was unfamiliar with. He parted ways with his sensei, wishing to spend more time honing his skills with the blade and ninjutsu than what they could provide. However, he also wanted time to cope with his own feeling, to grieve so that he could get on with his life. He returned to the training he had undergone as a child, only intensified tenfold. He found himself spending hours working on his footwork, combining this training with that of tree and water walking to help boost his chakra control and reserves further. As such he found himself returning to the art of dance once again, no longer embarrassed by this very effective training style and occasionally hurling gale-force winds in the direction of those who looked down upon this 'effeminate' training. Sure enough, as time passed Setsuna overcame the grief for his fallen comrades. The change in his personality was immediately noticeable - he once again became cheery and borderline-psychotic, every bit the ninja he had been as a child. Determined to get back on track, Setsuna contacted his old sensei and relayed his desire to continue doing missions together. Oddly enough they became a two-man squad, occasionally aided by another Jonin on higher-ranked missions, and continued the work they had left behind. Setsuna continued to grow and develop his skills, now finding himself pushed by his sensei’s constant reassurance of ‘if you screw up I’m going to disown you.’ Eventually, upon turning seventeen, his father bestowed his family's blade – Caliburn – upon his son, claiming that he was too old to carry the damned thing around and that he couldn't let it just gather dust in the corner. With this weapon came a scroll depicting the various jutsu he was to learn to make effective use of the blade, including the signature jutsu of his family. Armed with this knowledge, Setsuna's training shifted towards a more weapon and ninjutsu-oriented style, focusing on building his chakra reserves and further developing his skill with the blade. With these new techniques in his arsenal, Setsuna quickly rose through the ranks and became a full-blown jonin at the age of nineteen. This was the crowning moment of Setsuna's life; he had surpassed all of his former classmates in both raw skill and power, enough so that he could actually defeat his former sensei and father, who had once been one of the village's most prominent ninja. Well, technically he wasn't able to defeat his old sensei, though most every sparring match they had ended in a dead-even tie. His years of training had paid off; he was one of the fastest shinobi in the village, and even those who could keep up with him were thrown by his chaotic and haphazard movements. And then for the next four years Setsuna felt something he had never felt before. Emptiness. Boredom. He had basically attained all his life's dreams, and now had nothing left to do but hone his skills and improve what areas he lacked in. Sure, he spent a good deal of time wandering around the village and seducing women all the while, but after a few months his morals finally kicked in and forced him to find something better to do with his time. He tried training, but without a partner that he wasn't used to fighting it felt incomplete. And so to the objection of his fellow shinobi, who were aware of his borderline-suicidal training routines, he submitted his application for a genin team.
